A PTFE pleated cartridge combines fluoropolymer membrane with supports to provide substantial filtration area. Hydrophobic grades serve suitable gases or wetted-liquid applications, while modified hydrophilic grades address different liquid-startup needs. Cores, end fittings and seals remain part of the element, and their materials jointly define its service envelope rather than the properties of PTFE resin alone.
| Selection factor | What to compare |
|---|---|
| Surface state | Hydrophobic and hydrophilic grades need different startup procedures; residual wetting liquid may affect formulations. |
| Construction | PP and fluoropolymer supports can have different pressure, temperature and chemical limits. |
| Gas or liquid | Gas-flow information cannot substitute directly for liquid-flow data. |

Manage condensate, bubbles and pressure changes, including unintended reverse differential pressure.
Use only supported, validated procedures; restored flow does not establish restored retention.
Supports, ends and seals also limit compatibility, so assess the entire element.
Incomplete wetting or a gas lock may explain the result before particulate fouling does.
