Balance throughput and operating stability in process-liquid particle control.

Process & filtration objectives

Array processing, color-filter manufacture and substrate cleaning use different liquids. Large substrates make flow capacity and consistent delivery important, but high flow does not replace assessment of particles, gels and chemical compatibility.

Developer, etchant, stripper and process water each have different loading sources. Separating central distribution from equipment recirculation helps establish whether contamination enters with the supply or develops during use.

Typical process pathway

  1. 01

    Central distribution

Assess demand from individual tools and simultaneous operation; maintain separate records for each process liquid path.

  2. 02

    Cleaning and development

Observe particles carried back by returning liquid, separating replenishment from recirculation pressure trends.

  3. 03

    Etching and stripping

Review wetted materials against chemical composition and operating temperature, including reaction-derived solids or gels.

  4. 04

    Point of use and maintenance

Consider replacement clearance, drainage and restart recovery to manage delivery changes after maintenance.

This is a typical task pathway. Confirm sequence, equipment and operating conditions for the project.

Filtration points & selection rationale

Process pointFiltration taskSelection rationale
Facility supplyControl incoming and pipe-generated particlesAllow for demand changes when several tools draw liquid together.

Verification & operating records

Evaluation itemRecording & comparison
Operating trendsRecord flow and differential pressure by batch; a change in tool demand is not necessarily clogging.
Panel observationsCompare defect types and locations under equivalent material and equipment conditions, rather than totals alone.
Maintenance recoveryRecord flushing, discharge condition and the criteria used to resume production after replacement.

Application questions

Is a larger-diameter cartridge always cheaper to operate?

Compare housing layout, usable area, processed volume and replacement work. Diameter alone does not establish operating cost.

Why inspect tool filtration after central filtration?

A recirculating bath can continuously generate particles. Central filtration cannot address every contamination source downstream of it.
