Hollow-Fiber UF Modules
Define operation and cleaning around feed quality, permeate targets and inside-out or outside-in configuration.
UF & MBR / Membrane Systems
Review membrane units, pretreatment, instrumentation, backwashing and chemical cleaning from feed to permeate.

A UF system combines modules, pumps, valves, instruments, pretreatment and cleaning paths into an operating process. Membrane selection is only one step. Net production excludes backwash, discharge and downtime, while peak demand, feed variation and maintenance reserve affect configuration. Design should start with feed and product-water objectives rather than simply assembling a chosen number of modules.
| Selection factor | What to compare |
|---|---|
| Production target | Distinguish instantaneous flow, daily throughput and net product after cleaning losses. |
| Process boundaries | Screening, dosing, storage and downstream treatment influence UF and need defined responsibilities. |
| Controls and access | Pressure, flow, turbidity and valve monitoring should support interlocks, diagnosis and maintenance. |

Interpret temperature, transmembrane pressure and water quality together rather than relying only on timed cleaning.
Check sensors and real valve movement, assessing cleaning recovery separately from membrane integrity.
Feed condition, operating flux, cleaning frequency and available runtime also matter.
No. Dissolved salts and some small contaminants generally require additional treatment processes.
