Construction & operating principle

A flat-sheet MBR module mounts membranes on support panels with permeate channels, arranged at defined spacing above an aeration zone. Water enters the collection channels through the membrane, while rising bubbles help limit surface deposits. Panel spacing, air distribution and maintenance access are important design variables. The flat-sheet format does not identify one particular membrane polymer.

Typical uses

  • Solid-liquid separation in wastewater MBR systems
  • Reuse treatment under suitable process conditions
  • Membrane-tank layouts favouring panel-based maintenance

Use & maintenance

  1. 01

    Installation

Maintain panel spacing and correct permeate connections, protecting surfaces from compression and scratches.

  2. 02

    Operation

Track transmembrane pressure, production and aeration; blocked air paths can cause uneven fouling.

  3. 03

    Maintenance

Use the model-supported cleaning mode rather than transferring a hollow-fibre backwash procedure.

Product questions

Can every flat-sheet membrane be backwashed?

No. The membrane and support design determine permitted operating modes.

Does clear permeate mean it is ready for reuse?

Dissolved contaminants and end-use water criteria still require complete treatment and analytical assessment.
