Construction & operating principle

A PP meltblown cartridge forms a tubular porous body from molten polymer fibres, capturing particles through its depth. Some designs use a graded structure to distribute different particle sizes across the media, but similar appearance does not establish the same gradient or retention grade. Evaluation should consider downstream quality, media compaction and endpoint differential pressure together.

Typical uses

  • Suspended-particle prefiltration of process water
  • Contaminant control in compatible liquids
  • Load sharing before finer filtration stages

Use & maintenance

  1. 01

    Commissioning

Check seating, complete the required initial rinse and record clean pressure drop.

  2. 02

    Operation

Avoid flow shocks and excessive differential pressure that can compact media or disturb retained particles.

  3. 03

    Replacement

Use defined quality and pressure endpoints rather than darkness of colour alone.

Product questions

Can meltblown media remove dissolved salts?

Ordinary particle filtration is not desalination; dissolved ions need a different separation process.

Do matching nominal ratings mean equal performance?

Test methodology, media structure and efficiency may differ despite the same printed number.
