Nylon microporous rollstock provides a hydrophilic polymer membrane for discs and assembled filters. It supports particle separation in suitable aqueous and solvent systems, while surface interactions can influence analyte recovery. Standard and charge-modified nylon have different retention mechanisms; electrostatic adsorption should not be described as simply a smaller physical pore.
| Selection factor | What to compare |
|---|---|
| Standard or modified | Charge modification can affect fine particles and target molecules depending on liquid chemistry. |
| Chemical environment | Acidity, alkalinity, solvent composition, concentration and temperature all matter. |
| Conversion | Thickness, width and support determine the mechanical needs of cutting and sealing. |

Watch target concentration because initial adsorption and later saturation can produce different recovery.
Compare batches using the same fluid and conditions, with blanks and spiked controls.
The assembly may still need venting, rinsing or method-defined conditioning.
Charge interaction and mechanical sieving are different mechanisms, and electrical effects depend on the fluid.
