A filtration manifold connects several filter positions to a common vacuum source, with valves controlling each position. It supports parallel testing, but individual seals, membrane resistance and open valves affect the actual pressure difference. The receiver, protective devices and tubing are part of the system. When several positions operate together, the vacuum source must support their combined demand.
| Selection factor | What to compare |
|---|---|
| Position count | Match daily workload and handling rhythm; more positions do not resolve highly fouling samples. |
| Filter heads | Disposable cups and reusable membrane holders need different interfaces and cleaning workflows. |
| Vacuum arrangement | Size the source and receiver for concurrent loading and include appropriate backflow protection. |

Track sample identity by position and prevent overflow or reverse flow.
Clean sample-contact components using procedures compatible with seals as well as the frame.
Different sample loads or membrane resistance can explain them; compare positions under identical conditions.
Upstream paths should remain separate, but reverse flow, overflow and handling errors still require control.
